For the new orders, Kasuwa will offer free shipping for goods bought as a part of its launch promotion.
Currently, the site’s include books, electronics, mobile phones, computing and hardware.
Kasuwa will also offer its customer pay-on-delivery services. Customers will only pay once the goods ordered are delivered. A section of the delivery services would however be offered by DHL.
The competing product, Amazon has established its presence in South Africa with a development centre in the continent. This would give the new site a good breeding space to grow its local customer base.
The site, although it resembles Amazon pages, developers say this does not deter them. Analysts view it as a strategy to give Amazon great competition in the West African country.
Most prominent e-commerce sites in Africa include the South African site, Bidorbuy.co.za, that has presence in Kenya.
