Google has awarded iLab Liberia one of its Roots In Science & Engineering (RISE) gongs in recognition of its use of technology education as a platform and means to bridge wider social and cultural divides.
Google's RISE Awards programme aims to fund and support organisations in Africa and around the world that provide science and technology education at grassroots level.
For 2013, 30 organisations spanning 18 countries were awarded prizes. Google's Roxana Shirkhoda, Education Outreach Specialist, said all the award winners combined will “reach more than 90,000 children in 2013, helping inspire and teach the scientists and engineers of the future”.
Google's RISE gives the organisations funding and further support to continue with their technology education outreach. They will also all meet in London in June 2013 for a global summit.
