Nonofo Molefhi, transport and communications minister, addressed delegates at a five-day conference dealing with cyber-security training and said the ITU has already embarked on an initial assessment of current cyber security problems in the country.
The findings of the initial assessment will be shared with stakeholders once it is required.
Molefhi explained various states were implored to cooperate to ensure the security and robustness of international telecommunications networks at the world conference on international telecommunications, which took place in December 2012 in Dubai.
Molefhi stressed the importance of cyber security legal frameworks being both internationally and regionally harmonised.
This will facilitate investigation and prosecution processes on crimes committed on the internet.
Molefhi said further the Southern African Development Community (SADC) developed model laws on cyber security, which will assist the country in reviewing and developing its cyber security legislation.
