Google’s Street View Goes to Botswana

In 2010 Google Launched street view in South Africa and now it has advanced its innovation right in Botswana. Street View is a Google Map’s project that allows users to have a 360-degree view of streets in the specified cities.

This means a lot for Botswana businesses especially in the areas of Gaborone and Francistown. Users can view business installations such as hotels just in the click of a button. In fact Botswana’s tourism industry will be positively impacted with most of the national reserves and parks will be captured in the project.

Julie Taylor, Head of Communications and Public Affairs for Google, SubSaharan Africa said, “We are delighted to be updating Street View with more Cape winelands imagery and look forward to bringing our cutting-edge Street View technology to Botswana”.

Google’s Street view which is available in Google Maps and Google Earth, was started in 2007 and now covers over 30 countries.

It aims to help users, “explore places through 360-degree street level imagery, whether you’re looking at locations in your town or across the globe. With Street View, you can check out a restaurant before going there, find beautiful places around the world to visit on your next vacation, or check out neighborhoods when you’re looking to move” Google says.
