SA IT distribution company expecting tablets to be popular this festive season

Esquire Technologies, a South African distributor of IT components, desktops, notebooks, peripherals and digital lifestyle products, believes tablets will be what most people will be looking for as gifts during the festive season.

Asgar Mahomed, Managing Director of Esquire Technologies, successfully predicted last year that the most popular present would be notebooks and now believes 2012 is “the year of the tablet”.

Mahomed said: “Father Christmas will be coming down the chimney with lots of tablet PCs this year. We are expecting to see a real spike in our sales in the run-up to December’s festive season.”

Esquire Technologies sells a number of brand-name tablets, as well as its own locally designed GeeKo range. More than 5,000 GeeKo tablets have been sold by the company since the launch of the range in June.

“Esquire is launching a whole new range, including existing models. The new range is under the umbrella of GeeKo Premium, GeeKo Junior and GeeKo Smart series; these units will be available from Esquire’s 12 500 resellers in southern Africa and participating Virtual Reseller Network (VRN) e-Commerce Online stores,” Mahomed concluded.
