The Tanzania Telecommunications Company Limited (TTCL) through its chief technical officer (CTO) has said it will ensure that all ICT services offered to customers within Tanzania and across the region will be free from fraud and crime.

Daily News reports the company’s CTO Kamugisha Kazaura was speaking at a three-day forum held in collaboration with the South Africa Telecommunications Association (SATA) to address fraud issues and attain maximum cyber security.

“TTLC exchanges traffic with other telecom operators and connects a number of countries in the region through the National ICT Broadband and submarine cables,” said Kazaura.

“We will ensure that the services offered within Tanzania and the inter-regional communication business are free from fraud and all cybercrimes.”

He said TTLC exchanges traffic with other telecom operators and connects a number of countries in the region through the National ICT Broadband Backbone and Submarine cables.

“We have the necessary equipment and techniques to help manage fraud and through this forum people will be able to share fraud issues which will further enhance controls to prevent fraud issues in the future,” said Kazaura.

The permanent secretary at the Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology Patrick Mukungu said the government is currently reviewing its ICT policy to ensure safety and security are included in the new policy for protection and security of the telecom operators.
