Airtel Tanzania has rolled out basic computer training through its project dubbed ‘Shule Yetu’, in a bid to support education in the country.

The Airtel staff training team visited Kiromo Primary School in Bagamoyo to prove its commitment to supporting education to Tanzanian pupils having also renovated the school in recent years, reports the Daily News.

Kaplesh Mehta, Airtel’s head of the finance department, said the move to offer training was based on the facts that computer devices and knowledge in the field are important in the community today as well as its development.

“Computer is one of the very important tools for the development of the modern society,” said Mehta. “Airtel understands it and had chosen to influence pupils and children to learn it as early as possible and prepare themselves to be supportive to their community development.”

Kirimo’s headteacher, Joseph Ngunangwa, said the move motivated pupils and aided in better understanding of computer skills which is not as difficult as they earlier thought.
