Airtel launches multibillion naira promo in partnership with Pepsi

Telecoms company Airtel Nigeria has partnered with Pepsi for a promotion in which airtime worth several billion naira will be won by subscribers.

According to the network, the promotion will run for sixty days, starting on January 20 and ending on March 22.

Consumers who purchase any Pepsi, Mirinda, 7-Up, Teem or Mountain Dew carbonated drink can win instant Airtel free airtime.

Victor Bannerman-Chedid, general manager for value added services at Airtel Nigeria, said the promotion demonstrates the network’s customer-centric culture which translates to multi-faceted exciting packages and offerings.

“The partnership between Pepsi and Airtel, two of Nigeria’s leading companies is one of the most exciting things to happen to the Nigerian consumer in recent time. We are happy to begin the New Year on a very promising and positive note for the good of the Nigerian consumer. We recognise their importance and the immense roles they play in the success of our businesses,” he said.

Under each crown, he said, is a PIN number. A consumer is required to dial the PIN number for instant recharge of one minute Airtel airtime for both on-net and off-net calls.

“For consumers who are not on the Airtel network, the PIN number entitles them to a free SIM card that on activation will enable the consumer to enjoy the free airtime. Consumers can redeem up to three free airtime crowns per day and each recharge is valid for three days,” he said.

The airtime can also be transferred to friends and families and is redeemable within 30 days of the promo window closing.

Nordan Thurston, head of marketing at the Seven-Up Bottling Company Plc, said the partnership is in line with both companies’ customer-focus philosophy. He said customers will enjoy drinking Pepsi and coming alive by talking via Airtel.

“It is always good to have a partner, but it is more important to have the right partner. Airtel is the right partner we have identified, and are proud to work with the company because of our shared values,” he said.
