Kenya hosting Doodle 4 Google exhibition

Winning Kenya's Doodle for Google submission by Esther Wamai

Google Kenya is currently hosting the inaugural “Doodle 4 Google” gallery exhibition, showcasing the top 100 Doodles entered into last year’s “My Kenya” competition.

Google hosted the 2013 Kenya Doodle 4 Google competition for six to 18 year olds to celebrate an important year in Kenya, which saw the country’s 50th anniversary of gaining independence, as well as democratic, fair and peaceful elections.

The top 100 entries will now be featured at the month-long exhibition entitled “My Kenya: Through the Eyes of a Child”, being held at the Nairobi National Museum.

HumanIPO reported 17-year-old Esther Wamai was named winner, with her Doodle featured on the Google homepage on Kenya’s “Heroes’ Day” – October 20, while she was also awarded a tuition grant, and a grant was made to her school.

Google said it received over 5,000 entries for the competition, and the public voting process saw more than 13,000 votes cast.
