Zest sells 3,000 units in first 24 hours

South African startup Zest Mobile sold 3,000 units of its flagship smartphone the T1 on the first day of priority sales, with public sales opening today.

HumanIPO reported on Tuesday Zest opened sales for those who had pre-ordered the phone, with customers of partner company Afrihost granted a day of priority purchase for the device yesterday.

Zest said Afrihost customers bought 3,000 units of the T1 yesterday, saying while public sales open today stock is likely to run out.

“At 10am, sales are completely open to the public on the Afrihost website,” Zest said.

“Stock is going to run out so please ensure that you get in on the proceedings early into the day to ensure you can purchase a package.”

The T1 is retailing as part of a ZAR1,999 (US$186) package, under which Afrihost is offering customers 1GB of free data per month, for one year.

“Thank you Zest fans for the awesome support. We are truly appreciative and will continue to grow our offerings and deals,” Zest said.
