DStv provider MultiChoice has announced the channel dedicated to coverage of the murder trial of South African paralympian Oscar Pistorius will pop up on August 7 to cover the remainder of the trial and judgment.

HumanIPO reported in January MultiChoice launched the carte-blanche style channel dedicated to providing live trial coverage, analysis, profiles and exclusive interviews throughout the duration of the murder trial.

The channel – DStv channel 199 – has popped down each time a delay or recess in court proceedings has occurred, most recently a month ago when the court agreed to reconvene for closing arguments in August.

MultiChoice today announced the channel will once again be live as of 8.30am, August 7, to provide coverage of the closing arguments of counsel; but will only be live for those two days.

The channel will thereafter pop up only for the judgment.

“The Oscar Pistorius criminal trial is a huge talking point across the globe and The Oscar Pistorius Trial: A Carte Blanche Channel has seen massive engagement on social media around the world,” said George Mazarakis, channel head for The Oscar Pistorius Trial: A Carte Blanche Channel.

“The channel will continue to bring viewers thought-provoking documentaries, in-depth analysis of the trial and informed commentary from key personalities and experts in the legal, journalistic and particularly the social media fields.”

MultiChoice said the schedule of the channel will remain the same, divided into the Morning Show, the Lunch Time Show, and the Afternoon Show, followed by the usual trial highlight segments such as Trial Overview with David O’Sullivan, Legal Roundtable with David O’Sullivan, and Court Today with Katy Katopodis.
