Online laundry platform Washist.com launches in Lagos

Online on-demand laundry service Washist.com has launched in Lagos, Nigeria, offering busy professionals increased efficiency in getting their laundry done.

Washist.com allows users to schedule pick-up of their laundry by the Washist team via the web platform, as well as arrange delivery of completed laundry; while users also receive SMS notifications of the status of their laundry while it is being done.

According to the founders of the platform, Washist.com aims to alleviate the time pressures of having laundry done by a professional cleaning company, by providing an easy-to-use, affordable 24-hour online laundry portal.

“As an upwardly mobile professional, I found it tedious to make out time to do my laundry, I am also too busy to sort and drop my clothes at the dry cleaners/laundromat,” said  Oluwafemi Taiwo, co-founder of Washist.com.

“When [my co-founder] Oluwadare spoke to me on the idea, I was sold on it as it’s a necessity for busy working class people. I also liked the fact that with a few clicks on a website, you could order for your laundry to be picked-up, washed, ironed and delivered,” he said.

To use the service, customers register via the website, and are charged a monthly flat fee of NGN10,000 (US$61.4) which includes washing of unlimited clothes, three pick-ups a month; with a laundry bag provided on the first occasion.

Co-founder and managing director (MD) of Washist Oluwadare Ajayi said the service also hopes to act as an assurance of the quality of laundry services being provided.

“A major challenge faced by most busy professionals is the quality of service offered by their regular washman,” said Ajayi.

“At Washist, we understand that every cloth has its unique  washing instruction and our trained personnel adhere to these instructions. We use state of the art equipment to ensure your clothes are long lasting, looking crisp and smelling fresh,” Ajayi said.
