New Pay TV aims to promote local content in Nigeria

The management of African Cable Television, (ACTV) a new Direct-to-Home (DTH) Pay TV company in Nigeria has announced plans to commence operations on Monday December 1. The management also announced about US$30 million has been spent to purchase equipment for the pay TV’s operations.

Speaking at an event in Lagos, the management said the pay TV would to promote local content in the era of global digital broadcasting.

Godfrey Orkeh, managing director and chief executive officer of ACTV said the company will add value to Nigeria’s Pay TV market. He said they will offer high quality content at an affordable price.

Orkeh said, “We want all our customers to have the opportunity to access our channels as we bring them to life starting ‎from December 1st till 31st, so that they can choose the subscription package that best addresses their TV entertainment needs. We will be offering four packages, namely, ACTV prime, ACTV family, ACTV Family Max and ACTV Premium.

“We believe that our customers will spend this end of year season with a choice of TV channels that address the needs of every member of their families and friends. In order to access our service, we are offering our customers the ACTV-6000 HD PVR at an attractive price.”
