8,000 Americans chosen to wear Google Glass

The first 8,000 people to wear the much anticipated Google Glasses have been picked by the web giant to be part of the first mass-scale testing.

HumanIPO reported in February Google would carefully select competition winners who could be trusted with the first batch of the high-tech facial wear and the first recipients received notification of success yesterday (Tuesday).

The winners will pay US$1,500 for the privilege of testing the product as well as attending special events in New York, Los Anageles or San Francisco to receive suitable guidance.

The Google Explorers, as they have been termed, will experience the headsets which feature a small hidden camera and display screen and responds to voice commands.

No commercial date has been set for a commercial launch.
