MTN SA alters BlackBerry packages

MTN is phasing out its BlackBerry Absolute Plan in a bid to simplify its data packages and offer more choices to subscribers.

The Absolute Plan was only introduced in March, but now MTN BlackBerry customers will be able to use BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) for ZAR59 (US$6) per month, including access to emails and social networking.

Another package available is BlackBerry Internet Service Lite, which limits usage up to 200MB and costs ZAR39.95 (US$4) per month.

Mapula Bodibe, general manager of consumer segments at MTN South Africa, said: “We are excited to introduce enhanced BlackBerry Service plans that offer a distinct customer experience, ensuring that customers’ usage needs and requirements are taken into consideration.”

A number of top-up options are also available on the new tariffs, including increasing BBM and web-based email access to 30MB from 10MB for ZAR14.95 per month.
