Like the Angry Birds game of shooting birds on a sling against obstacles, Angry Nigerian replaces the birds with popular Nigerian personalities, including Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan, Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Alison-Madueke and Minister of Finance Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
According to creator Alaba Onajin, the idea of the game started as a joke while he was playing Angry Birds. He then decided to localise it to a Nigerian version, a process that took only an hour.
The game is currently being developed for Android and iOS devices.
Due to copyright issues, the game will not be similar to Angry Birds, although Onajin admitted it was the inspiration of his new game.
Angry Birds is a game that was developed by Finnish game developer Rovio Entertainment. It is touted as one of the most addictive games ever developed. The game was released for iOS platform on December 2009 and since then has seen over 12 million purchases on Apple’s App Store.
This prompted its developers to design other versions of the game compatible with touch screens, and eventually to PC-based versions.
