The call centre, which is already operational according to Larking Huang Huawei general manager for devices, will handle queries regarding smartphones, tablets and mobile broadband services.
“The creation of this call centre is a result of Huawei’s growth in the South African market and is part of our entry strategy into the consumer space with our new smartphone offerings,” said Huang.
The centre will augment customer support available from network providers with the company saying it can now receive information and queries regarding its products directly from the customers reducing the bureaucracy involved in addressing issues.
“Having our own local call centre now enables users to receive direct feedback from Huawei on any queries they may have,” said Huang. “This reduces the amount of time in which queries are processed, resulting in increased customer satisfaction.”
The call center is also a culmination of a long term agreement with Altech to provide Huawei Enterprise products and services to customers and offer post sales professional services and support.
According to sources inside Huawei that spoke to HumanIPO, the call centre will extend its services to East African countries.
