The new glass has a chip and a code on the bottom. The code is activated using a smartphone which links to a user’s Facebook page.
The glass was developed for a Budweiser marketing campaign in Brazil by advertising agency Agencia and creative outfit Bolha.
A promotional advert on YouTube says: “For years we have been making friends the same way, now toasting has received an upgrade”
Once a user activates the code, a toast at a bar with a person not currently a Facebook friend automatically sends an invitation on the social networking site. Budweiser plans to use the glasses during events such as concerts and festivals.
