The report by SlashGear comes hot on the heels of a similar rumour regarding an Apple SmartWatch.
Japanese electronics manufacturer, Sony, was the first to release and sell a Sony SmartWatch. It can be linked with an Android smartphone so users can view messages and calls from the SmartWatch.
The Sony SmartWatch also comes with an accompanying mobile app that enables users to manage its apps and settings.
The main rumoured difference for the Samsung SmartWatch is that it could have its own network and data connection meaning it would not have to be partnered to a smartphone.
If true, users would be able to make calls or send messages directly from the SmartWatch.
With other devices already available on the market, it remains to be be seen not only if the Apple, Samsung and Sony SmartWatches gain popularity amongst consumers, but whether the whole smartwatch idea becomes popular with consumers.
