MTN launched its cloud pilot project last year in December, aimed at small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Cameroon and the Ivory Coast.
The operator plans to go live with its cloud services tomorrow in Nigeria and Ghana, and will implement its cloud services in other African countries later this year.
“What the pilot confirmed is that our offerings are on the mark. There is great appetite for ICT solutions that are relevant, customised and affordable. SMEs are looking to technology service providers such as MTN to bring them world-class tools that improve their business efficiencies. MTN Cloud offers exactly that,” Bizcommunity quoted Farhad Khan, MTN’s executive of the group enterprise business unit, as saying.
MTN’s cloud pilot project placed it as the first mobile operator on the continent to adopt the Cloud Service Brokerage model.
“MTN is optimistic about the uptake of MTN Cloud. Our focus is to contribute to the development of enterprises and the sustainable growth of economies, and SMEs are key economic growth drivers in most of our markets,” said Khan.
