Set to celebrate 100 organizations (and the people within them), the Award provides a networking platform for IT buyers and recognizes industry leaders using information technology in innovative ways to deliver business value.
Last year, the awards saw the participation of over 200 CIO's half of whom came from Kenya’s Public Sector due to a partnership with Kenya’s eGovernment. In addition to Kenya, this year's awards are also targeting entries from Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania.
In 2011, the 2nd CIO 100 awards saw KENET become the overall winner for their Internet connectivity to educational institutions project with Kenya's online restaurant guide Eat Out Kenya and East Africa’s leading supermarket chain Nakumatt Holdings taking the second and third positions respectively.
Nakumatt Holdings was honored for its integration of IT innovations to offer services such as electronic airtime distribution and dispensing from Tills, Utility bill collection for services such as Safaricom’s Post Paid and Nairobi Water and Cashback (bank withdrawal) at tills for Equity Customers.
The prestigious awards have received corporate sponsorship from Huawei Technologies and Cisco coming on board as Ruby sponsors while COSEKE and All Africa have joined in as special awards and media sponsors.
