According to the global networking giant company, the acquisition of Meraki complements and expands its strategy to offer more software-centric solutions. These solutions, according to Cisco, will simplify network management, help customers empower mobile workforces, and generate new revenue opportunities for partners.
Cisco paid approximately US$1.2 billion in cash to acquire the entire business and operations of Meraki. As part of the deal the Meraki team will be absorbed into Cisco's Cloud Networking Group.
It is hoped Meraki's cloud networking solutions will expand Cisco's network offerings by providing scalable solutions for midmarket businesses.
Furthermore the acquisition will strengthen Cisco's Unified Access platform.
