Started in 2011 by well-known entrepreneur and investor Blake Krikorian, id8 Group R2 Studios recently launched a Google Android application to allow users to control home heating and lighting systems from smartphones.
Krikorian was also a member of the board at Amazon.com, from which he resigned from in late December 2012. He served on the board of the Internet’s largest retailer for about a year-and-a-half as a director at the company.
As part of the acquisition, it is reported that Krikorian will join the US-based software global giant along with a small team, reports Reuters.
Wall Street Journal newspaper also report that Microsoft purchased some patents owned by the startup related to controlling electronic devices.
