South African telecom Vodacom has ended its pay-once data promotion, pushing up the cost of data packages for customers.
The company launched the data bundles in August 2012, offering 1GB of data every 30 days for a one-off payment of R1,199 and 2GB every 30 days for R1,999. These prices were then lowered in October.
It has now ended the promotion, pushing up prices for pre-paid data users, who will now have to pay R279 for each 1GB package and R369 for each 2GB package.
