Earlier today, according to the Standard, the site would open to show the hacker page with music playing in the background.
At the time of writing the site is still inaccessible to users, with traffic directed to the main Google.com site and Kenyan users finding it impossible to complete a simple web search.
The hacker, only identified as TiGER-M@TE, is said to be from Bangladesh.
News of the cyber attack has gone viral on social media sites. Google is the third most used site in Kenya.
