The app store offers free and premium applications to Nigerian smartphone owners for downloads on Android platform.
With a one click billing feature, MTN subscribers can make app purchases through prepaid airtime or on contract account.
Larry Annetts, chief marketing officer of MTN Nigeria, said: “We are very pleased to partner with neXva on this app store initiative.”
She motivated the choice of neXva by referring to the company’s “robust technology platform” and an internal team focused on the customisation and localisation of apps for Nigerian users as a “key success factor”.
Brian Friedman, co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) at neXva, described the partnership as “a great opportunity”.
“We are particularly pleased that deploying our app store technology was done with a highly curated selection of content that will, for the first time, bring apps to many of MTN’s customers in Nigeria.”
Shaun Zelber, co-founder and chief operations officer (COO) at nexVa, said: “We know that app store customers are looking for a localised experience in the depth and breadth of the apps offered.”
He added the nexVa content team is on the lookout for the newest, best and most relevant apps which can add value to the daily lives of Nigerians.
According to Zelber, the launched app store offers a combination of local and global apps as a rich experience to customers.
