Police say Apple Maps is so bad it is “life threatening”

Australian police have been forced into issuing a public safety notice warning tourists and ramblers to stay clear of Apple Maps because of inaccuracies.

Police said this week they have had to rescue six people in the past 30 days who were heading for the city of Mildura, but got lost in the Murray Sunset National Park – a desert like 1,900-square-mile region – which the much criticised application wrongly states the city is in.

"Police are extremely concerned as there is no water supply within the Park and temperatures can reach as high as 115 degrees Fahrenheit, making this a potentially life threatening issue," police said in a statement.

In September Apple were forced into a rare and embarrassing apology after numerous inaccuracies were pointed out in their new application which originally replaced the popular and successful Google Maps on the iPhone 5.

Google Maps has since been made available for users of Apple’s latest handset and operating system.
