A ‘digital afterlife’ is created by Twitter bots which analyse how a person speaks and what they like so they can continue the trend once the person is dead.
The apps tagline is “When your heart stops beating, you’ll keep tweeting”.
“It offends some, and delights others,” said Dave Bedwood, Creative Partner of the London-based advertising agency Lean Mean Fighting Machine which is behind the application.
“Imagine if people started to see it as a legitimate, but small way to live on. Cryogenics costs a fortune, this is free and I'd bet it will work better than a frozen head."
Anyone who signs up has to nominate an executor who will have access and control of the account.
Another application, DeadSocial, gives the deceased person the power by allowing them to set up a series of messages which can be sent out posthumously on Facebook and Twitter.
