Google has declined to comment on the switch in the choice of processor chip since the release of Nexus 7s in June last year.
Prices are still unknown, although there is the possibility the 7-inch device will be released at the same price - US$199.99 - as the previous Nexus,Reuters reported.
An even lower price might not be too farfetched to deal a costly blow to market-dominating tablet competitors such as Apple and Kindle.
