The financial report for the last financial year also recorded roaming revenues with a total of US$79,000 and George Sokota, chairperson of Airtel Zambia, told the Times of Zambia the roaming revenue was earned through foreign mobile operators’ subscribers using Celtel Zambia’s network.
Airtel Zambia said it has 227 mobile operator partners around the globe. It has also reportedly left its mark in more than 80 countries
Speaking at Airtel Zambia’s annual general meeting in Lusaka, Sokota said the mobile operator takes seriously issues relating to corporate governance and is focusing on a solid corporate governance framework which will contribute to improved corporate performance and accountability.
Furthermore, Sokota said the company has a strong focus on the audit committee with relation to financial operations, control standards and results, as well as fraud and the application of accounting.
Airtel is Zambia’s largest mobile operator with more than four million subscribers.
