Subscriptions increased to 9.4 million from 8.5 million in the previous quarter.
The country’s internet penetration increased to 41.1 per cent from the previous rate of 36.8 per cent, with the number of internet users estimated at 16.2 million, up from 14.5 million in the previous quarter.
“However, the number of broadband subscribers declined to 1,002,701 from 1,006,071 posted during the previous period mainly due to a reduction in the number of fixed terrestrial broadband subscribers,” the report said.
The internet data market growth is attributed to international internet connectivity. The report says international internet used bandwidth rose to 328,641 Mbps from the previous figure of 278,329 Mbps, registering an increase of 18.1 per cent.
Local mobile traffic registered a 4.9 per cent growth, with 7.3 billion minutes of talk time recorded.
Mobile data seemed to be on a strong growth path, contributing to 99 per cent of the total internet data subscriptions in the country, the report said.
