The announcement was made at the Mobile World West Africa 2013 press lunch yesterday (Monday) in Lagos.
Jeremy George, biNu’s vice president for Africa, said with app will allow Etisalat subscribers to access the internet at affordable cost and greater speed.
He said: “biNu’s partnership with Etisalat gives subscribers an affordable way to turbocharge the internet on their mobile phones.”
He added that Etisalat subscribers will be able to use the app at a special subscription rate. He later told HumanIPO that in addition to biNu’s international features, Etisalat subscribers will also be able to enjoy local contents on the app.
Wael Ammar, Etisalat’s chief commercial officer, revealed the network’s commitment to ensuring that all its subscribers have access to the enormous information and services available online.
“By partnering with biNu we are making this available to more people, at a lower price on a greater range of handsets and at higher speeds,” Ammar said.
George told HumanIPO a special subscription plan will become officially available for Etisalat subscribers at the end of May. However, users can download the Etisalat-branded app from m.binu.com/etisalat
In a statement biNu said the app has an extensive range of local and international content, messaging and social features.
It added the app is ten times faster than a regular browser and is extremely data efficient.
