There is now a v.1.0.7 version, and Ilna Smook, 2go’s office manager, told HumanIPO that up to now there had been no marketing for the app and it had been helped by good reviews on the Google Play Store.
“We have over 50,000 downloads in the first week with very good reviews (4.3 average). We have had no marketing to date,” Smook said.
Now on Android, the South African founded 2go is able to allow smartphone users to access the network that currently has more than 10 million users, most of which are in Nigeria.
“In Nigeria, where 2go is the largest social network, feature phones still dominate with around 88 per cent market share, although Android is growing increasingly important,” 2go stated.
Describing the ongoing improvement on the Android version the co-founder of 2go, Ashley Peter, said they have had a lot of feedback that could be used to improve the app over the next few months.
“Version 1 of 2go for Android is a good first step and we have received great feedback from users,” Peter said.
“But you can expect much more from us in the next few months as we refine the app and add functionality. This is just the beginning for 2go on smartphones.”
