Charity Lumpa, managing director of Airtel Zambia, said subscribers will be able to call with local rates in countries where Airtel operates.
In addition, free call reception, all-day fixed SMS and GPRS rates will also be available on all Airtel networks.
HumanIPO reported last week on Airtel’s aid to Tanzania Millennium Villages.
Airtel Zambia has expanded significantly during the past year with 29 additional data roaming partners and 92 voice roaming partners, fixing the present count at 141 and 378 respectively.
Lumpa also revealed plans of upcoming products and services to the advantage of subscribers, including regional expansions.
The director also ensured Airtel users of uninterrupted network correction.
The service is said to be essential for travelling Zambians who have to keep in touch with local contacts.
Stated as chief motivation for its expansion, roaming connection offered to Zambians makes Airtel the first mobile network operator to supply such an offer.
The operator has roaming footprints in more than 80 countries at present, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, China, France, Germany, Japan, India and Russia.
