The Daily News reports so far the mobile company has managed to register 95 per cent of its users and has issued a warning to the remaining subscribers to register their SIM cards otherwise they will have their numbers disconnected.
The exercise is in accordance with the Electronic and Postal Communications Act of 2010 that stipulates all mobile phone numbers in the country should be registered.
Rene Meza, Vodacom’s managing director, said: "So far we have registered over 95 per cent of our subscribers and we have increased our efforts to achieve the target by 100 per cent."
By the end of last year, Vodacom had registered 9.35 million subscribers while Airtel had 8.35 million, Tigo 6.37 million and Zantel 3.8 million.
