This was revealed at a two-day training seminar held at the Protea Hotel in Kampala, the aim of which was to discuss ways of improving internet access in Ugandan universities and to provide a much needed platform for the institutions to get information on how to benefit from customisable tools that will help them work together and effectively.
"The program is an initiative designed to catalyse internet usage and Google Apps adoption in Sub - Saharan Africa universities through the provision of Google Apps for education and that Google will support the institutions through deployment of the program, strengthening existing ICT services, technical consulting and training," said Google Apps Supporting Program (GASP) lead for Sub-Saharan Africa, John Wesonga.
Over 20 public and private universities and institutions in the region attended the seminar.
