Themed “Women in ICTs- Challenges and Opportunities”, the event will be led by female Zimbabweans with experience in relevant positions of authority.
Joy Benza, managing consultant at X-Pert Solutions, Viola Dondo, deputy director at CSZ and Margareth Ziramba, ICT manager at Premier Service Medical Aid Cociety, are two of the main figures to address attendees, while lawyer Rumbidzai Dube, will be the guest speaker.
The aim is to open conversation around the challenges awaiting female members of the profession in an area which has been prominently dominated by males in the past, for intended breakthrough.
“Considering that the facilitators are women shows that the ICT field is for everyone and much can be done from every angle,” a statement said.
The meeting will also explore opportunities for girls to be “better prepared” for a career in ICT, considering the aspects of leadership, software and network engineering, among other aspects.
According to The Herald, the event’s timing is interesting since the society is undergoing transformation with possibilities of rebranding on the table.
