Google launches next Nexus

Google will launch the latest tablet Nexus 7 this month, aiming to enter into the consumer hardware industry.

HumanIPO reported earlier this year on Google’s plans to release eight million Nexus 7s in July.

Available as from July 30, the tablet will be on sale for US$299 or US$199 for the 16GB and 8GB versions.

A slimmer model than the previous Nexus designs, the newest addition to the range features improved display resolution with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

Sundar Pichai, head of Android and Chrome software, said: “The new Nexus 7 is designed so that it’s profitable for all the people involved,”Reuters reported.

Google also revealed plug-in gadget Chromecast, a US$35 television adaptor enabling YouTube and Netflix streaming through smartphones yesterday (Wednesday).
