The apps are available for iPhones and iPads, and can be downloaded via the App store from today. The company is promising to roll out on other platforms over the coming months.
The new offering sees the airline respond to widespread customer preference for mobile connection, Mango having seen strong uptake of its mobile site launched last year.
“In line with our strategy to make air travel more accessible to South Africans, we have added mobile platforms to our already extensive distribution channel bouquet,” said Nico Bezuidenhout, chief executive officer of Mango.
“The response to the launch of our mobi-site last year indicated the growing need for mobile accessibility… With the exceptionally high penetration of mobile technology in South Africa as well as increased in bandwidth and the proliferation of ancillary devices such as tablets, we anticipate access by a new market segment of approximately 4 million new customers.”
Users of the app can book, pay for and change flights, as well as receive updated airline communications. Customers will also be able to participate in all promotions via the app.
