The DStv owner said it will work with regulatory authorities “to curb the illegal download of movies”, saying many South Africans have turned to the internet to download the latest movies and television programmes.
This process has been particularly accelerated with the advent of affordable uncapped broadband.
MultiChoice told the Sunday Times they were concerned about illegal downloads negatively impacting the industry.
“At the same time, we encourage our channels to broadcast their series close to US broadcast dates to further discourage piracy,” the firm said in a statement.
