The paper says the search giant, via its Android mobile operating system, has too much power and discriminates against local firms, according to Reuters reports.
“Our country's mobile operating system research and development is too dependent on Android,” said the paper. “While the Android system is open source, the core technology and technology roadmap is strictly controlled by Google.”
The paper praised local firms such as Baidu and Huawei Technologies. It claimed Google had delayed the sharing of codes with some Chinese companies developing their operating systems, and used commercial agreements to hinder the development of mobile devices by local firms.
A Google spokesman in China declined to comment to Reuters, while the ministry failed to recommend any specific action to counter Google’s perceived domination.
