HumanIPO reported yesterday Seacom had suffered its second cable cut in the space of a week, but it is not yet clear whether these men are connected to the cut that brought down the Seacom network last week.
The Egyptian authorities reportedly caught the men on a fishing boat near the port city of Alexandria. The cable hit was the South East Asia Middle East Western Europe 4 (SEA-ME-WE 4).
The alleged attack was only 750m north of Alexandra, according to Reuters, while the cut last week was much further out at sea and deeper. The first cut is still thought to be the result of a ship dropping and dragging its anchor.
