Nikki Cockcroft, executive director at DMMA.
Cockcroft, also former chair, will serve in her current position as executive director at the DMMA until the association’s annual general meeting (AGM) on August 15.
Cockcroft owed her decision due to personal reasons, revealing a continued career in the digital space.
“Looking ahead I would like to focus on growing the diversity of skills in the digital industry through transformation and education,” she said.
“I would love to see more women coming through the ranks as well as people of colour, and I will continue to commit my time to this cause.”
Jarred Cinman, current chair of the DMMA Steering Committee (Steerco), said: “I have been lucky enough to see close-up how much Nikki has contributed to the industry and the DMMA.”
Both Cockroft and Cinman agree it is the “right time” as the DMMA recently celebrated its tenth birthday.
“This was a very hard decision for me as I have invested so much time and energy into the DMMA over the past few years,” she said.
Despite the resignation, Cockroft will remain chair of the Bookmarks Awards for 2013.
The executive director has chosen the date of announcing her resignation with spacious time to reflect on nominations, open to all DMMA members, before the AGM.
Apart from her role at the DMMA, Cockroft also held the chief executive officer (CEO) position at 365 Digital, Primedia Online and Prezence Digital, before becoming head of online at Woolworths in 2011.
