The conference is an m:lab East Africa initiative which seeks to amplify and consolidate the gains of East Africa’s mobile developer and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
It will be held at the Rwenzori Ballroom of the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala on June 25 and 26, having been hosted in Nairobi for the past two years, but will still be streamed at the iHub in Kenya’s capital.
The PIVOT East 2013 tickets are being sold online via credit card and mobile money (Kenya and Uganda only) for US$100. The tickets can also be purchased on-site at PIVOT East in cash.
A PIVOT East statement said: “The event will majorly focus on startups becoming sustainable enterprises as opposed to showcasing mobile applications and their developers.”
It will also seek to raise the quality of mobile startups in the region and their investability.
“Startup profiles will be used by competition judges who will mostly be investors to score the potential of the startup to become a sustainable high growth enterprise,” it added.
Intel are the main sponsor’s for PIVOT East 2013.
