The two printers, the Epson L355 and Epson L550, have an email and iPrint capability and allow mobile devices running on the Android and iOS platforms to send commands.
Users will need to download the Epson iPrint application and connect to the printer through WiFi. Documents no larger than 10MB can be printed.
“The increased use of smartphones and tablets as the main gadgets to access the internet, the increased apps that allow the creation of documents and the use of the phone as a camera has led to Epson creating such solutions and products,” said Mukesh Bector, Epson’s regional sales manager for East Africa.
Bector added that the idea of mobile printing was also necessary as people continuously seek ways to share memories and increase their mobile productivity.
On top of the two new devices, other products already in the market that can support iPrint functions include the Epson Stylus PX730WD and the Epson Stylus BX635FWD.
The solution also allows wireless scanning and emailing right the printer with the Epson Connect allowing users to store their emails for easy access from the printer’s control panel.
“We created Epson Connect for the following reasons including we want to support all devices, allow access to data anytime, print from anywhere and above all ease the way people communicate,” Bector said.
