Matthew Mole is 21 years old and hails from Fish Hoek, Cape Town.
According to a report by Times Live, the young artist beat the likes of major international superstars The Rolling Stones, Jay Z, Robin Thicke, Michael Buble and others for the number one spot on the iTunes platform.
“It was such an amazing thing to see the album at number one on the morning of its release. All thanks to the overwhelming support received from everyone! It’s great to know that people are loving the album,” Times Live quoted Mole as saying.
The album, which is titled “The Home We Built,” is reportedly attracting interest on an international scale already.
Furthermore Mole’s recently released album has been chosen as Record of the Day in the United Kindom (UK) as well as the A&R Worldwide’s “Artist of the Week” in the United States of America (USA).
“We’re absolutely thrilled for Matthew as this is a remarkable achievement for a new artist. It’s an exciting time as iTunes has changed the face of the South African music industry and given independent labels and artists direct access to their fans,” said Karl Anderson, owner of Just Music, Mole’s record label.
