Although the opening ceremony took place yesterday, the concert is scheduled for tonight.
HumanIPO reported yesterday Ali Famamwy, Microsoft’s senior vice president for corporate business, was to take part in the opening ceremony.
The fee Chris Brown is charging for the event is reportedly US$1 million.
However, not every Ghanaian is impressed. According to Spy Ghana, Ghanaian satirist Kwaku Sintim-Misa believes it is a big waste of money.
Sintim-Misa tweeted: “Wished they had invested money in developing local talent: But, it’s THEIR MONEY and they are free to decide how they waste it!”
Chris Brown’s entourage is reportedly already in the country and the concert for the opening of Hope City will be held at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra.
Once the Hope City project is complete, it will feature a multi-million US dollar ICT park with six towers and developments spanning an area of 100,000 square metres.
Hope City will also include housing, business, ICT and recreation facilities aimed at creating more than 50,000 jobs and housing approximately 25,000 people.
