The Massive idea was conceived two years ago when siblings Gareth, Wayne and Hayley More identified a need in the property industry for an online application to assist in running housing complexes and other daily dealings of property more smoothly.
Wayne More told HumanIPO how the name was chosen: “The name actually came about before the business... Gareth and I worked in a company together we owned with our parents and Hayley was freelancing in web design and we decided we wanted to do something together from a creative line and Hayley came up with the name”
More added: “Through that experience [the family run business], we decided to move into the property industry and the name fits because we’re trying to do something big, we’re trying to do something that captures everything rather than one small part of the market.”
The Massive streamlines the communications on the various complex levels of communication between appropriate real estate parties. It essentially “helps a complex [of apartments or townhouses] run efficiently.”
“In order for a complex to run efficiently, we’ve identified three things,” said More. Owners, trustees, managing agents and tenants need certain amounts of information that affects them directly in their own capacities. The three aspects affecting this information includes information, documentation and communication.
The trio are seeking to address these three aspects according to the level of information required by the respective user, saying it will allow “people to make decisions fast. It allows the managing agent to do their job.”
The property industry is very particular about what information is shared, especially with regards to the various levels of management. “The industry itself is very concerned about letting information out that shouldn’t be. So it [The Massive web application] is user restricted,” explained More. The Massive is only accessible through logging in with a username and password.
They are also trying to establish a sense of community. “As The Massive, we don’t just want to be seen as a tool for investors or for managers. It also brings across the idea that you are not just looking after your investment, you’re also creating a good home,” said More.
“We want to create a space that allows the interaction between the different levels, from the managing agent to the trustees, the owners, the residents, the tradesman, accountants and lawyers.”
Although The Massive has not reached the “community state of mind” yet, it does seek to bring communities closer together in the future through various methods on the site.
The site has recently been updated and now offers more useful features such as the classified application, group voting tool, the calendar and a task tracker.
