In a statement, Interswitch described the PCIDSS award as the highest security certification in the world.
"PCIDSS is the globally accepted set of policies and procedures intended to optimize the security of credit, debit and prepaid card transactions and protect cardholders against misuse of their personal information,” the company said.
The company added it is the only West African company that had obtained the certification and will continue to use its experience "to assist its partners to also achieve PCIDSS".
Mitchell Elegbe, Interswitch Transnational's group managing director and CEO. expressed the delight of the company with the feat.
He said: "We are delighted to have achieved PCIDSS for the third year in a row. At Interswitch we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of security for our customers and are continually looking for ways to strengthen our fraud management strategy.”
Interswitch claim their transaction to fraud ratio is less than 0.1 per cent.
