Maksai, whose employment takes effect from 18 March, replaces Andisa Ditle, who had been acting in the position since November last year.
In a statement, Telkom said: “In compliance with paragraph 3.59(a) of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited, shareholders are hereby advised that Ms. Xoliswa Makasi has been appointed as group company secretary of Telkom with effect from 18 March 2013.”
However, the company is yet to appoint a new CEO to replace Nombulelo Moholi, who resigned in November and will leave her post next month.
Telkom said Makasi was extensively qualified for the position and welcomed her to the company.
“Ms. Makasi has extensive experience in the roles of compliance, legal advisory and company secretary for listed companies. She holds a Dip Iuris, (University of the Western Cape, 1987) and a B Proc, (University of the Western Cape, 1989). She is a member of the Institute of Directors, Corporate Lawyers Association of South Africa (CLASA) and a member of the Company Secretaries Interest Group (CSIG).”
The company also put on record their thanks to Ditle for her work over the last four months.
